The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
Another bonus day today, a package for the Ranting Chef (my alter-ego)!
Inside I found this great collection of products from Charles Viancin.
There was a Lily Pad Silicone Lid,
a Violet Overboil Silicone Ring,
the Hibiscus Silicone Lid,
and a pair of Rose Bud Silicone Finger Grips.
I was having my mom over for dinner and decided to make some pasta. It was time to put the ring to work.
Often I am cooking a number of dishes at once. Timing all of them to come out at the same time can be a challenge and often if I put something on the stove to cook that generally does not need attention, it may be a while before I look over at it. This happens with pasta all the time. Knowing this, I put the Violet Overboil Ring to work.
Boy did it work. I glanced over and saw this huge bubbling mess. Or, it would have been, if not for the ring. The ring caught it and kept it from boiling over and causing a mess that I’d have to clean up later.
After I took the picture and turned the heat down a bit, I was able to easily stir the pasta through the ring. It was a breeze to clean up.
My mom saw the Charles Viancin products and fell in love with them. I asked her if she wanted to review them and she jumped at the chance. Here’s the Ranting Mom…..
My son, The Ranting Chef, showed me some new, innovative products that he had just received and I jumped at the chance to try them out They are all made by the Charles Viancin Group.
First, I tried The Lily Pad Silicone Lid and The Hibiscus Silicone Lid. I LOVED them because not only were they very attractive but so easy to use. All you do is just lay them across your bowl and they adhere to the rim. (There must be a little width to the rim on your container for these to work).
They actual hold well enough that you can pick up the entire bowl by the flower lid knob. I used them on some of my Fiestaware bowls and also on a metal large bowl that I often use. Worked well on both. I loved them so much that I got online to see if there were other sizes – and there were.
There was even a large “banana leaf” one to cover a large, oblong casserole dish. The pictures on line really don’t do them justice as they are much more delightful in person.
Second, I tried the Rose Bud Silicone Finger Grip which are holders used to grab something hot that you are taking out of the microwave.
You’ve probably seen other silicone “hot pads” but these are different because they are fairly small AND they have a magnet so that you can leave them on your microwave. I found them to work well and the magnet makes it so convenient.
Lastly, I tried the Violet Overboil Silicone Ring. It is designed to keep liquid from boiling over. It worked very well and I think I’d definitely like to try it for things like spaghetti sauce that often leaves a mess on the stove. While it is large, it easily folds up for storage.
All silicone products were very attractive and commendable and I will use them all, but the lids were a real stand out and much handier to use than getting out the aluminum foil or plastic wrap!
The Ranting Mom
MY TAKE: The Violet Overboil ring worked great for me and all the products were hits with my mom. As she generally does not add many new items to her kitchen, I know these made a powerful impression with her. As she indicated, there are many more great Charles Viancin products. Take a look and try them out!
I want them all. The Ranting Mom has a future in blogging…well done!
