The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
I received something interesting the other day. It was the PackIt Freezable Wine Carrier.
Available in both a single and double carriers, the PackIt carrier is different from most wine totes, as it is intended to function as a cooler as well. The double cooler folds to about the size of a typical “fanny” pack. It is designed to go into the freezer in this folded state, so it won’t take up much room and will be ready when you need it.
Here you can see that two bottles easily fit inside.
Once in, you zip it closed and fold over the top. The carrier is well-built and comes with a strap that makes it easy to carry to parties, the beach or a picnic.
It was time to put it to the test. I put the cooler in my freezer overnight and had two bottles of wine chilling side by side in the fridge. I then put one inside and closed it up and left the other outside of the cooler as a control.
PackIt claims that the carrier will keep bottles cold for 10 hours. I was a bit skeptical at that. After 45 minutes to an hour, the control bottle was no longer cold. I checked the inside bottle at 2 hours. It seemed as cold as when I put it in. At the four hour mark, it was the same. At 10 hours, I pulled out the bottle and handed it to The Ranting Wife. Her response – “It’s cold!”.
MY TAKE: PackIt‘s Freezable Wine Carrier is a great product. It folds up well so you can keep it in the freezer. The version I tested held several bottles (because you know if you have a group, you’ll drink them). It was well made, looked stylish (there are even more colorful versions) and, most importantly, kept the wine cold for an extended period of time. I recommend it for any wine drinker that likes to take some wine on the go. Take a look at this, and other PackIt products here.
