The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
A big box was delivered to my house with T-fal on the outside. I wonder what is inside…
It was the T-fal Balanced Living Rice & Multi Cooker.
This piece of equipment is not a one-trick pony. It is a rice cooker, steamer and slow cooker. With a capacity to cook 20 cups of rice, you can really do a lot with the T-fal Balanced Living Rice & Multi Cooker.
Included is the cooker, the inside pot (which comes out for cleaning), a steamer basket, measuring cup and rice spoon.
I first tried it out to steam some baby carrots. Fill the bottom with water and the steam basket with carrots. Close the top and turn it on the steamer setting.
The carrots retained their beautiful color (unlike if they are boiled) and are soft enough to eat with a fork.
I next tried it with rice. The rice goes in first.
Then the water goes in next with the help of measuring lines on the pot.
Turn it on and wait 20 or so minutes (times vary depending on how much rice you cook).
The rice comes out nice and fluffy.
My Take: I really liked the T-fal Balanced Living Rice & Multi Cooker. I hadn’t used a dedicated rice cooker before and it was a breeze to make perfect rice. What really sells me is the other functions (steaming and slow cooking) this device can do. To occupy space in my kitchen a product has to either be perfect for a unique task or has to do more than one thing (Alton Brown hates single service tools as well). This does a great job AND can sever many tasks. I recommend it. Take a look at this and other T-fal products and fine retailers like Target.
I use my rice cooker ALL the time but it doesn’t have all these ‘bells and whistles” this looks really worthwhile. thanks for the review.
