The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
Recently, I was able to cover the 2014 International Home and Housewares show in Chicago as a media representative from the blogging community. While there I was able to spend some time at a number of booths and see some really interesting products. This product was being displayed at the show.
When I was in Chicago, I was able to take a look at the Trudeau Stress Less Automatic Corkscrew with Foil Cutter and I was wholly impressed.
I have had an opportunity to review the No Mess Pot Clips from Trudeau previously, so I wasn’t a stranger to their brand.
This corkscrew comes neatly packed but it was time to remove it and put it to work!
This corkscrew is quite a bit above what I have used in the past. My first corkscrew was a stainless contraption that would routinely catch parts of my hand in the gear and tear my hand up. I progressed to a plastic one that often as not would tear up the cork and leave part of it still in the bottle. I even have a large corkscrew stand that sits on my bar and uses this big lever. The two times I’ve used it, it pushed the cork down into the bottle! I was hopeful that Trudeau had solved all of those issues.
The Trudeau Stress Less Automatic Corkscrew with Foil Cutter sits on a base that is the foil cutter. On the bottom of the base is the cutter. Note the three metal discs. They are sharp to cut the foil.
Place it over the top of the bottle, squeeze the button (which closes the cutting discs around the neck of the bottle) and rotate the cutter part of the way around the bottle.
The foil is neatly cut and gives you access to the cork.
Lift the handle and place over the neck of the bottle. With one hand, squeeze the grip on the corkscrew. This holds it on the bottle. With the other, pull down the lever and then back up. The downward motion puts the corkscrew into the cork.
The move up cleanly pulls the cork out.
There it is inside.
One more pull down and up on the lever again easily ejects the cork. It is just so easy.
Just to be sure it was easy for everyone, a sister-in-law of mine was happy to try it out.
Down and up.
And once again to eject.
My take: The Trudeau Stress Less Automatic Corkscrew with Foil Cutter is a step ahead of its class. Stylish and easy to use, this is a great gift for any wine enthusiast. Well made and as it comes with a lifetime warranty, you know it will be able to stand up to the use that any wine drinker can put it through. It looks great and I have it right next to my wine rack. Most importantly, with the closed design, I never have to fear my hand will get torn up. You can purchase it online here.
