A package came from Takeya.
This handy bottle has an easy grip exterior with a stainless steel interior. This double-wall construction helps to insulate the contents from the outside temperature, getting rid of that pesky condensation.
The lid comes with a solid loop that can be used both as a handle or as a place to attach a clip or carabiner.
The lid flips up, keeping the lid attached so you don’t lose it. The opening is large enough to get both a volume of liquid out, or ice cubes in.
The whole top unscrews for easier filling. Time for a test.
Hour zero. 30.6 degrees (F).
With the lid securely on, let’s see if there are any leaks. Nope. Nothing.
At the 12 hour mark it was 30.7 degrees (F). IMPRESSIVE. One tenth of a degree in 12 hours.
At the 24 hour mark, there was a total loss of not even 2 degrees. Also, no condensation on the bottle.
Time for the heat test. Takeya claims that the Thermoflask 18oz bottle can keep contents hot for 12 hours. I filled the bottle with water heated from my coffee machine. Hour zero was 158.6 degrees (F).
12 hours later, quite a bit of heat was lost, but the contents was still warm. The temp surrounding the bottle had gotten down to 60 degrees for six of the 12 hours and there was still decent heat in the bottle.
My Take: The Takeya Thermoflask 18oz bottle is a great bottle for both everyday use and for those occasions when you need something sturdier. Filling it with coffee to go to work, or some nice iced tea to take on a hike, the Takeya Thermoflask 18oz bottle will keep the hot hot and the cold cold. It is a well-made piece and makes a great gift. It is available in several finishes (white, black and steel) and in different sizes (18oz, 32oz and 40oz). You can purchase it here.
